Hi all

at the moment i work between home and the office. when i go into the office i have to get 3 buses so i buy a travel card each month.
my father in law doesn't like driving anymore and rarely drives anywhere now so hes said in the next couple of month he might give up driving all together and give me his car, if i want it. i wouldn't have to pay anything for it as hes said he'd still like me to run my mother in law shopping and stuff which is fine.
the car is just a little corsa and would roughly be worth about £1000 if that, it wouldn't cost me any extra to run as i'd be saving on my travel card (unless of course it breaks)
how would i stand if my iva's approved. could i accept the car if its nots gonna cost me anymore finance wise or not???

Connie, I'm no expert but if it's not going to cost you any more then go for it. Don't forget though that you'd have to pay for any maintenance etc. How lovely of your father-in-law. Viki X

No reason why the car wouldnt be allowed, remember though that you may incur extra costs,ie mot, insurance, servicing, but as long as you can manage that under the figures you have submitted for I&E then it surely wont be a problem.
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

yeah it was really nice of him. hes in his 70's now and will always get out of driving if he can. hes one of these who drives 10mph everywhere he goes. lol. his cars about 8yr old but done next to nothing mileage wise so i think it would be a good little runner.

yeah i thought about maintainance etc. my hubbys worked in the motor trade all his life so little things he can get fixed for next to nothing and some things he can do himself. obviously if its something big that breaks then we'd be stuffed.

It's not a problem Connie - just make sure that you highlight any differences in your expenditure to your IP at the time of your annual review.
