Chrysler have done exactly the same to Dave. He's had the car from new in 2003, but has only done just 45k miles but they have been servicing it for the year, not the mileage. The service intervals are every 6 months, and the local garage said that it's not necessary, yearly will be fine.

I've had my Audi since October 2008, and it still is not due a service!

We wait for our Skoda to tell us when it needs a service, and as the car is hardly used at the moment it has been over 12 months since it was last done.

We don't use a main dealer, but the garage we use do specialise in cars from the VAG group.

It's a lot cheaper.

We are not going back to the ford dealer unless the Garage Ever says so.
You would think they would want to keep your custom wouldnt you!
Plus the price difference for a mot & annual service was around 50 quid difference.
PS n Sorry again! My Dad felt very let down after visiting the same place for many years.[:(]

I'm lucky, my friend's partner is a mechanic and he's serviced my car for the last couple of years - I trust him and he does it really cheaply for me.

I've only ever taken my car to a main dealer once, and that was when I had my Corsa and it cost me over £500 and they didn't even do the job properly - I lost count of how many times it had to go back!

I want one of my boys to become a Mechanic when there bigger - cars always need fixing & we will always need transport!

But they can be what ever they want to be - but I think it would be really useful tool in life of having cars.

How kind of your friend skippy, I bet mechanics end up with lots of people wanting to be there friends!

I know I'm lucky - last year he did a full service and had it MOT'd for me for £120. I trust him to only do what needs doing and I know my friend would kill him if he ripped me off!

We use a local place for MOT as well. That is all they do, so we know they won't con us into having unecessary repairs done.

The Mazda is fine as it is motability so we don't have to worry about repairs or servicing.

Hey no probs at all folks that is what the forum is for, general discussions and also anyone that might also be having the same problems. I actually have my car serviced every year by a very good friend of mine but unfortunately as they live some 50 miles away it wasn't feasible to take the car there that week. I have seen the part that i need on ebay for £49 but you never know so will just go with the flow this time, bite the bullet and pay the money over, hopefully end of problem too. At least i haven't had to ask for a payment break so that is something positive me thinks.
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.

IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.

That's good news orchid. Glad you've been able to save up enough to pay for it. Always good if you don't need a payment break.

I would be looking at getting one from ebay, and getting garage to fit it. No point throwing money away. My mechanic now looks online for components when he knows money is tight for folk.
