Many thanks for all your good wishes,it really is appreciated.I recall how worried I was just over 5 years ago and actually know in real terms what it was like to be "worried sick". I was that man. Then I came across this forum........what a god send.
Message to Baldy:
I was given the option to pursue PPI claims by Stepchange but never did. They said it was not down to them to pursue them. I was told at the time that if any claims resulted in a payout, that I could keep the first £500 and that the rest must be paid over to the IVA. In all honesty I never had PPI with any of my 10 credit cards (That sounds awful now). The other thing you may be interested in was the equity release.
They sent someone around to get a valuation which was less than 85% so no additional year and I concluded after 5 years.
The Fizz last night tasted so much nicer.......It was like you had just got a pint out of someone that never buys a round.

Interesting that StepChange felt that they could not be bothered to investigate potential assets! I wonder if they still share that view?

I don't think it was a case of they couldn't be bothered, from what I recall of the letter it was left up to you to pursue if you thought there may be monies due.
In all honesty I'm quite pleased because I know I had no PPI attached to any of my cards, and if now that I'm awaiting a completion cert it was held up I would be totally Pi**ed off.

I hate to say this stirling but you might not know you had ppi on your credit cards. I like you thought I had no ppi as I have never asked for it in the past but it would appear that I did as one of the credit card companies is paying out. I would make an enquiry into it as you may get a bit of a surprise !!!

If they were leaving it up to their client to pursue, then they were hardly acting in the best interests of your creditor to maximise asset realisations.

I wonder if you will be persuaded to take a look after you have the completion statement?

Melanie,I can see where you're coming from but I really don't want to mess with credit card companies ever again whether they owe me money or not.
What I can say, is that about 3 years ago I checked some old statements I had and PPI showed on none of them. I am 99% certain I never ever had it since I knew at the time it wasn't compulsory or that you would be refused a credit card without it. Therefore I never opted for it. So in a nutshell "No I won't be tempted".

Hey Stirling many thanks for your reply.
Interesting they sent somebody round to value the house. In our proposal it just states we are to get two valuations and produce two letters from lenders saying we can or cannot remortgage. If we cannot remortgage then another 12 months.

Regarding PPI: What you have said is what we were told by Step as well. We are pretty sure we have no PPI to claim, BUT we will NOT under any cicumstances be trying to look into it after we have finnished the IVA has finnished.Im sure the creditors are not going to suffer too much if we dont persue any PPI.

Looking at what creditors are getting back through IVA's i some times think if they werent so greedy and were more helpfull in helping people come to some arrangements to pay back directly then alot of the times they probley would get a lot more back.

How many times have people been told" If you are finding things difficult then call us" the to be offered no help whatsoever?

Im happy with our IVA, gratefull for their help and have hardly any feelings for the credit card companys.

Baldy

A very interesting approach - that is all I really have to say on this matter. I don't blame you mind for not wanting to look into this once an IVA has concluded - I guess you just want to get on with your lives from that point forward.
