I'm not sure that I understand the advice given by Ollie (Thomas Charles), as there is nothing in legislation which exclues a student loan from an IVA, unlike the ruling under bankruptcy proceedings. I take a practical view with these things - if they are 25% or less of the aggregate debt they are included, if not then the IVA is not going to work unless the debt is specifically excluded - but this must only be done if the other creditors are not to be prejudied and with their specific permission.

My student loans come from 1996 to 2000, I have just started earning enough to pay them back and with my other minimum payments and bills I am left with £40 per week to live off. They want £140 per month on the repayment loans and they are already taking approx £80 for other student loans out of my wages. Is there anything I can do as they are pushing me into bank charges?

What other debts do you have alongside these loans?
