Hi All
I wonder if you can help. I am currently in an IVA and I am in arrears with my mobile phone company. THey have said they are goint o terminate the contract and bill me for the early termination plus the arrears. Can a mobile phone company be included in an IVA after it has started and if so how do I try and get this arranged?

or
Would I be better off trying to work out a repayment plan with the phone company/debt collectors to get this paid. I am happy being on pay as you go but need to clear this bill. Any advice would be great?
Regards
Adam

Hi
I think that you will have to come to an agreement with the phone company as the debt was accrued post IVA.
They should be happy to agree a repayment plan, just make sure that you stick to it.

Thanks for the fast replies.
I will give them a call and explain that I am in an IVA and that I am willing to pay them an amount close to the amount I am allowed in my expenses for the IVA. Do you think this will be agreeable?
What action could the phone company take against me? If I offer to pay them so much a month and keep to it I aasume nothing?? Do you know if most phone compaines are receptive to re-payment plans? I am afterall willing to pay them the money I owe. I just dont want people knocking on my door or threating court action. Espacally as I went through all that before my IVA was accepted. Please help.

Hi Adam
Most companies would rather accept an ongoing monthly payment rather than chasing you through a county court.
Phone them up,ask them to cancel your contract and agree a monthly figure, they will probably ask for more than you can afford but just be polite but persistent regarding the amount that you can afford.

Thanks Andy
I will give them a call and see what they say.
Adjusting your life to fit into an IVA is quite hard but next monday will be the third payment of 60 and it has gone so fast so if it keeps going this fast payment 60 should soon be upon me.

Hi All
Just a little update on this problem I have with oustanding debts outside of the IVA.
I have phoned the companies in question and they were quite aggressive with their approach. I told them what I was offering and when I could start paying but there resonse was to give me a ridicouls time frame to get a payment to them which I can not afford. I agrued and explained my situation with them over and over but were really unhelpful. I ended the conversation by saying I would put my offers in writng to them and await their reply. If they decide to take me to court what will happen?? I am making them a offer I can afford and that is the most I can strech to as we all know any surplus is paid into the IVA. I am just looking for some advice and re-assurance that I am doing all I can and what do I have to do if they take it further?
Any advice would be great.
Adam
