Hi nicola.th , yes you can

having had a quick look at your previous posts i think im correct in assuming you are about to or have just started the process of arranging an IVA ?

You need to have a current account with a bank that you dont owe money to , or hold any of their credit cards even if you dont currently have an overdraft.

Co-op definately allow you to open a basic acount & yes get a cashcard debit card, that can be used almost anywhere but not abroad. You can only apply for this account in the branch in person; they need to send the forms away ie you wont get a decision there and then. They are IVA friendly , but I would advise not to mention to them your pending IVA, they dont ask for this info on the application form. Dont get me wromg I am not saying lie , but as they do not ask for this info then certainly do not volunteer it.

Other posters I believe have said Nat west are IVA friendly , as long as they are not a creditor. Nationwide were IVA frinedly when I opened my account 7years ago with them just as I was about to apply for an IVA & i believe they still are - again as long as they are not one of your creditors

Have you started the ball rolling yet ? have you looked at the IVA / IPS that post on the site to look at arranging an IVA for you.

My IVA was with DFD , but if I had my time again , WHICH BELIEVE ME I WONT ! , then I would pick Melanine Giles as she appears to get nothing but praise from her clients and seems very understanding & helpful

If you havnt started the ball rolling yet , I would suggest maybe you do as the sooner you start, the sooner your IVA will complete. I know its a worrying time and if like me, I kept putting it off clinging on to a wing and a prayer that I could get myself out of the mess i was in. the reality for me was the only way I would have got my finances sorted without an IVA was if I won the lottery ! if only

good luck and remember to ask anything you may be unsure of
