If you pay in full then there shouldn't be a problem as you are not asking for credit so they won't check you even if you use a comparison site. Some companies will just check for address details but nothing else.

It does all depend on each company

They may conduct a basic credit check just to confirm address for fraud purposes . Some do , some don't.

LV have never let me pay monthly but as long as I pay upfront they are fine and have never mentioned iva.

We were with kwik fit in 2011 before we went into the iva and when the renewal came though the premium went up from £300 to £800 if we continued paying monthly so we changed to lv but had to pay upfront in feb last year, just waiting for the renewal to come through and hoping lv will let us pay monthly this year, if not I have managed to get a quote for £300 so will just change

I have used comparison sites and obv filled all my details in, all the quotes i viewed (cheapest) offered both monthly and annual prices, I was able to pay in full so don't know if i would have been denied monthly option after? I switched house ins recently and co-op let me pay monthly, think you just have to give it a go?

We tried that recovering but kwik fit couldn't give a toss and were quite happy for us to go!

Hi there

I got a tmobile contract on an iphone5 whilst still in my iva , no probs at all and I know I've read posts from others saying the same.

Granted Orange / Tmobile are part of EE now but I've found Tmobile to be great for the 4 months I've been with them. My only gripe would be occasionally it can take them 15 mins to answer the phone and the call centre in the Philippines is like talking to computers that don't take a breath and speak at 100 miles an hour !! That said I didn't have the luxury not pick and choose which mob company I went with , so chose tmobile after recommendations here on this superb forum......

I've not changed car or house insurance but have done pet insurance several times during the IVA and had no problems at all.

TheArtist - you'll find posts on here from people who have been offered nothing at all if they've offered to move.
Niobe, but some are successful, like 'recovering' on this thread. Agreed, most wont, but you can only ask.

Some are but I've never been offered anything when I've cancelled insurance.

The same with Sky - some people have been offered things when they have tried to cancel, others haven't.

I don't even bother asking anymore.

I think, when you threaten to leave, in the hopes of getting a better deal, you should be prepared to follow through and just look on it as a bonus if you do get offered a incentive to stay!
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I have upgraded my mobile with vodafone twice whilst being in my IVA and got slightly reduced deals with them each time, I haven`t bothered trying to change networks as I expect I would be declined.

I've stuck with the same mobile company (Vodafone) since before my BR - I didn't want to rock the boat by trying to change.

We threatened to leave Sky and got a new 2TB box reduced to £99 providing we took out multi room for 12 months, but we got that free of charge as well.

I have to say Sky have been pretty good - we had problems with our phone line during the flooding. It was sorted in a couple of days but they gave us 2 weeks credit without having to ask.
