Hello

I'm new to this forum, but you all seemed like a friendly, informative bunch.

I'm 18 months into an IVA. We are struggling to make payments, but I think I would have agreed to anything rather than go bankrupt and to stop those horrible letters and phonecalls.

To make payments we both work and my partner does DJ work to keep us afloat. Hence, we don't have any disposable income to start any savings (emegency fund).

Our latest dilemma is that we need a new van for my partner (as the current one is about to give up the ghost) so that he can continue to get to work, but also to do the DJ work.

We have already taken a payment holiday of one month, as we had an unplanned move earlier this year (the joy of renting!). Although we are not behind on payments, we had a month in hand.

I'm assuming that we cannot get any HP, but surely people have issues like this - 5 years is a long time in the life of a car.

Any ideas?

Hi
You are correct in stating that "things"happen.Speak to your IP and explain the situation, suggest having another two months payment holiday and extending your IVA by 3 months. You sound as if you have been good clients so I would expect yout IP to help.
Good Luck

Thank you both. I didn't realise you could negotiate extending it by a few months. It would certainly make life a lot easier. Will give them a call on Monday and see what they say.

Hello,

If you find you cannot maintain your payments, your IP can ask creditors to agree to a reduced payment or a payment holiday.
It is important that you keep your IP informed of any problems. Your IP would understand that most of us encounter unforeseen problems and he needs to know so that he can help.

Good luck

Please all beware of the above post. I also received this in my personal email and it seems VERY dodgy!
I sincerely hope that unscrupulous people are not going to hijack this very helpful and friendly forum.

I also had this mail in my Inbox. Mozilla firefox flagged it as scam email instantly, I do so like mozilla products. I do think that post needs removing.

On the way to a brighter future....:-D
Kind Regards.
