I admit that we were perhaps not the most proactive regarding the cheapest tariff but we were on a fixed price with BG. We will be more proactive now, like many it's sometimes a lack of knowledge, lack of time and admittedly a lack of inclination and realising how truly important it is. Latest update is that our IP has contacted the Insolvency Service and somebody from there will be calling BG today.

I hope you get it sorted Car1e.

We stayed with British Gas as they were the only company who had a fixed tarrif at the time and that was more important to us than them being the cheapest. Dave is self employed and we like knowing that anything that is fixed can be so we know what we're paying out each month.

Did I hear right that a few companies are looking to drop prices in a war started possibly by OVO?

Hi Jan, we are no further forward really. Drying company condemned all furniture this week, so we will need the house to be rebuilt before we can sort that out. Some parts are drying but the bathroom and kitchen below and living room still show moisture levels at 100 percent. I think that there is still a leak and am pushing for them to rip out the bathroom to see what is happening at joist level. However the buildings insurance is of course the landlady's realm so we are a little stuck. She refuses to lower our rent despite the fact that we can only use 3 rooms. I would move but don't have the deposit. So we will probably have to see this out. I am feeling less down and have taken loads of stuff to the tip, it was depressing looking at it! Onwards and Upwards!

That's not good and your landlady is being a complete idiot!!!! I don't see how she can charge you full rent for a house which almost unliveable in!!!!

Nip down to your local CAB and seek advice from them as to what you can do. I'm sure there is something.

Wooohooo, BG has closed the elec account...and......seem to have neglected to open a replacement elec account. Does this mean our electricity will be free I wonder?

AS IF!

Also an update on the flood the saturated sofa's have been removed from our back garden and other items also taken away. Downstairs is like a concrete bowling alley, anybody fancy a game?

I know, I know, I have bored you all rigid with this. But did think it worthwhile to share the fact that we had a letter today confirming our new Elec account. Hooray! You might say...err..no...Husband rang to sort out a direct debit payment and apparently the new account that they have set up doesn't exist!! Is it a world gone mad? Will our electricity be free? Incidentally the man in the Billing Dept said it was ridiculous too..Hmm..we will be calling our IP on Monday, am sure that she must be as sick of this as we are. The award for the worst customer service (insolvent or not) has to be awarded to BG. After all, despite being insolvent we are still customers and will still pay for our fuel - note to all, new account that doesn't exist was set up on Standard Tariff...well of course it was!
