Hello all,

Quick question. Does anyone know if i would be in breach of my IVA in applying through a diff provider? Orange are having a laugh in my renewal contract, and i want to close down the monthly contract phone and go to another provider. Not if i will breach my IVA and also if i would fail the Credit check?

Geoff

You will be fine taking out a new contract. A lot of posters are taking out new contracts when they can.

You have nothing to worry about.

I think the only company that will touch you whilst in an IVA are T Mobile.

Geoff - you don't need to speak to GT about it at all.

I agree there is no need to inform your IP but you may fail a credit check and have to remain where you are anyway.

T Mobile are pretty good Michael and a few posters have been able to take out new contracts with them.

HI THERE

Tmob are good for contract whilst in an IVA. if you want PAYG , try tesco mobile, they triple your top up value ie top up £15 , this gives £45 worth of credit and you get clubcard points as well

EVERY LITTLE HELPS as they say at tesco
Last payment made April 2012
Certificate received 1st Nov 2012

The other thing is to get someone else to take out a contract for you as my daughter did for me. The money comes out of my account so it is my contract effectively.

T-mobile I applied through E2Save and got accepted for a phone for my daughter whilst in an IVA worth a call for definite. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I love new phones so would never do PAYG.

Each to his own though,

I managed to get a rolling 1 month contract sim from 3 online for my son whilst in my IVA and also just managed to upgrade through O2 will no problems at all.

On an aside, if I hadn't upgraded with O2, would the reduction in my mobile allowance on my I&E have gone in the IVA pot or would the saving be mine?
I can now do without.....

Hubby has a contract with O2 and we've never had a problem upgrading.

If you do manage to make savings then obviously this will be reflected when you do your annual review so anything saved will probably go into the IVA pot.

Don't forget that it will probably be offset anyway with other things having gone up.

Thanks Niobe,

It does feel abit strange. I mean, pre-IVA I would have considered keeping my old mobile and reducing my monthly cost. But as my allowance is set, I might as well upgrade.
