I agree with abbiesmum, it mostly comes down to a subjective assessment based on who you`re most comfortable with. We made contact with 3 companies and went with Payplan and I`m pleased with the decision.
Any IPs worth anything will give you free advice and clearly explain any fees. Depending on who your creditors are fees are generally the same no matter which IP does your IVA for you. In addition, the fees the IP takes should come out of your monthly payments during the course of the IVA and not on top of what you're paying.
There are plenty of reputable firms out there. Forums like this are a great place to get advice from both the firms themselves and also people in IVAs. Good luck!!!
It is a reputable qualification provided and monitored by the Debt Resolution Form, of which I am proud to be a main board director. I currently have one fully qualified debt advisor in house holding this qualification, with three more due to sit their examinations this June. The qualification gives a BTEC standard of recognition for knowledge of the debt counselling and solutions provision.
It was well worth it. Although not a patch on the many many hours, weeks, months and years of study required to be an IP (like Melanie). Although the company I work for have offered to start my off on my path to becoming an IP. It will be a long one...

Drew works for a brilliant IP who I know very well. Although it is a long haul to professional qualification, I can certainly vouch it is very worthwhile. Bet of luck with your studies Drew!
