Basically been told I have no chance of getting a mortgage. Is this the future of being in an IVA ?

I settled my IVA in 2014, comes of my credit report in December 2016, other than the IVA my report is clear. Have been trying to get a joint mortgage with my wife whose credit is spotless. Basically been told no chance. Some have said wait till December when of file, have been told by Santander never, even after December. Is this how it is going to be in the future, even after the IVA.

Hi and welcome,

You will be able to get a mortgage once the IVA is clear.

Have a word with either Ryan or Shaun (details under the expert link on the left hand side of the page) who will be able to give advice.

This is Santanders own, short sighted, view and is not shared by all lenders.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

Luluj, one of our regular posters on here is proof you can get an IVA post IVA. Ryan helped her.

Hang in there, you will need a clean credit report, so not long now.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi, I would just like to tell you from my very own experience that you WILL be able to get a mortgage after completion etc as I owed a HUGE amount of money prior to my iva. you will definitely need to wait until your iva disappears from your credit files (check all 3 of them as this is what you will be told to do anyway!)
Also ensure any defaults will also have disappeared before December too as if not you will need to arrange for this to happen yourself.
I would also point out however, you will probably require a pretty good deposit though to help your case.
I contacted Ryan and got everything arranged within 24 hours literally! once everything was clear... They were amazing. Good Luck!
