I will let you know when I get the card but according to Josu the savings account card does work at the 24 hour petrol pumps which would be great if that's what they send me :D Lesley - if you get yours and get chance to test it before me let us all know how you get on :)
I've heard that the blue Natwest cards don't work and the purple ones do. I need the second account anyway but if the card is a proper visa debit card and not an electron in disguise then I will be very chuffed indeed x

Hi there, I have a basic co-operative debit card and can use it for pay at pump petrol stations.

I am with thinkmoney but cannot use my card at petrol pump (kiosk only) other than that it has been fine and the service is great, they keep you informed of where your money is and how much you have to SPEND, keeping enough to cover the ills that are due.
I know I am a good person, I just need to start believing it

Thanks for the feedback everyone :) hopefully the Natwest one that I should receive soon will work (I will report back when I've tried it) otherwise I am going to end up with a lot of bank accounts and a very suspicious IP lol x

Just to let you know that natwest are replacing all of their savings account debit cards with cashpoint cards only with effect from August this year.

Oh no :( perhaps by then I will be able to upgrade the account in some way then, as even though it's not essential for daily use, I will need a full debit card occasionally. Just because we're in IVA's! I see that as a good thing - we're actually managing our debt more than most now, it's just a shame that banks and the like don't see it that way x

Oh well I won't bother to open that account then. I am tempted to ring them and ask for a purple card but am a bit worried that it may draw their attention to my IVA. Not sure what to do really but that fuel thing does bother me. A few weeks ago I had to go to the city early in the morning (2am) when I noticed the dreaded fuel light, needless to say that my card was not accepted at the unmanned pumps. Luckily, after driving around in a state of panic I found a station, manned, on the outskirts.

hi, i av a coop cashminder card and can use it online and at paypumps. however you cant ring to apply for an account you actually need to go to a branch, once the account is open if you need to pay any money into the account you can do this at any post office. hope this helps [8D]

Thanks Shell that's helpful. I have just come up with another cunning plan but don't know if it's feasible or not. My eldest Son banks thith Nat West and I am thinking that he could apply for a credit card and put me and his Dad down as additional card holders. This sounds a bit dangerous I know but if we all only ever used the card for fuel emergencies, balance paid in full etc, then it could work. Just a thought, probably won't do it x

Thanks Shell, I will probably go with the Co-op account then if this Natwest one doesn't work. If I have to call up to close the account I will ask them for a purple card first and see what they say, worth a try :)
