Sorry to hear that you're having such a bad time.

Your hubby's feelings are understandable - when I went BR I felt like a failure, and that I'd let everyone down. I know now that I did what I had to do to get out of an awful situation, and to be honest, far worse things happen. That's not meant to sound flippant, it's just to let you know how I felt then and now!

It wasn't pleasant being 'a bankrupt', but I survived the year and I make the 12th payment into my IPA on Friday, so I feel as though I'm making progress!

Good luck x

Helen, just a suggestion, I know your hubby is in denial but why don't you get him on the forum. I know it's a long shot but maybe if he reads a bit more about the experience it may help. skippy has a blogg and there are lots of other blogs to read. Hang in there, you have got the advice you need and I wish you all the luck in the world. Keep posting, we will support you every step of the way. Viki X

Hi Helen,

Sorry to hear that your husband is in denial, but as already been suggested try to get him to look at the forum.

I hope all works out and good luck for the future. Please posting here as it is the kindest and most caring place I have ever belonged to.

Hi Helen

I was in exactly the same position as you a couple of months ago. My hubby also felt like a failure. I got him to read some of the posts on here and just kept talking to him about a new start. We both went BR on the 12th May and it has just become a very small part of our lives now. We will hopefully be able to keep our home because of the slump in the housing market but at one time we were looking to rent so we just looked at all the positives about moving ie more kids around for mine to play with. We also made an 8 year plan to get us back on to the property ladder.

I know its difficult but stay strong and keep posting on the forum. I wouldn't have got through the last few weeks without it. I had never personally known anyone who had gone bankrupt but now on here I have lots of friends who have been through the same thing. Nothings ever as scary as the thought of it!

I was in denial 3 years ago when we had debts of 45k. I was in denial 2 weeks ago and the debts were at 73k. Thats when it hit me hard that the hole I was in was only getting bigger and there was no amount of overtime that would help us out.It is hard to accept that you need help but once you realise you do need help things will improve,I promise.

Hi,thankyou, all so much for your kind words and support,i do apreciate it as you think you are so alone with all this and its encuraging to know people have gone through what we have to start and come out of it:) I will try anything to get him to see sense and Paul has said he will talk to him face to face to make him realise we have to make positive steps to get us out of this.

Did you tend to get help with it all Skippy - the filling in of forms, the court proceedings etc.,or did you manage on your own?

Hey Helen, Skippy did it herself but if you feel you really need some help and someone to be with you then Paul, if you're talking about Paul Johns, comes highly recommended on this site. Good luck. Viki X
