i am currently unemployed, and have debts of over 30000. i do not have any assets and bankruptcy is looking like my only option. in the info i have recieved it states that they will need to see bank statements, how far back will they need to go. also is it better for my partner if i have my own bank account.

Hi mountain street and welcome to the forum

The OR will usually ask for bank statements for the last six months. I would suggest that you do get separate accounts before you file for bankruptcy.

Hi Mountain.street and Welcome to the form!

In regards to your bank account, is there money owing on this account? If the answer is yes, after you are declared bankrupt the bank could go after your partner for the money owed.

I think the best way forward is to remove your name from this account and open a brand new account.

I am not certain of the exact amount of bank statements they will need to see but it could be up to 12 months.

my OR has asked me for nothing. suppose they all deal with it differently, they have all the details of creditors so i suppose they contacted them directly unless they get back in touch with me, i did take the paperwork with me on the day of the meeting and offered it but they didn't want it, i had it all to hand because of the iva process.

I was asked for the last years bank and credit card statements. I didn't have them all but the OR can get them easily enough so don't worry too much.
