I know from reading already that no overdraft or credit if doing an IVA which is fine but if I am opening a new account in preparation is it permissable to have a standard "cushion" type overdraft where if you go over when paying bills you don't get charged - eg 100 I think is the norm or can you not have that facility

Hi Elizabeth,

A £100 overdraft is not allowed either, you need to stick to a standard account with NO credit facilites attached.

Hi look at the yorkshire bank basic current account it comes with a dual function debit card (maestro) much more usable in shops etc. the other mainstream bacnk accounts mainly offer the solo cash card. not always easy to use anywhere. also this bank account is not credit checked etc and has DD/SO ETC
