Hi, have you tried Alliance & Leicester? You can apply online and you get a decision emailed to you within a couple of hours. I had problems opening up another account, I got declined from most places but Alliance & Leicester accepted me and I have found them to be excellent.

Hi Poppy

What sort of account did you open with alliance & leicester? the only ones i can see is the premier accounts which you have to pay in £500 a month, do you need to leave £500 in a month or does`nt it matter as long as my wages go in?

thanks

Hi crg

Yes it is a premier account. You do not need to leave £500 a month in the account - they just want to see £500 or above depositied in it each month which will be your wages (I wish I did have £500 to leave in there a month!!).

It also comes with a simple savings account which I use to move my contingency fund into each month. I do this all online and it is really easy to swap money back and forth between the two accounts.

It also came with a cheque book and debit card. Just remember not to request any credit faciliy and say no to the overdraft when you fill out the online form.

Let me know how you get on.

Also have a look at the Cash Minder account from the Co Op.

You can also look at Cash Plus Mastercard which will give you a credit card!

Hi
It,s not a credit card but a pre-paid card that you top up and use the same as a credit card.

Oh, Thanks for the Info. Where can we get one? It might be useful for me as I don't have a debit card... Can I also use it online?

thanks,

Hi Storm,

I did had a browse on the website you posted. No, Thank you.
Although it does sound very posh again buying with a card, a
mastercard but i was put off with the transaction charge. Imagine, using it 5 times in a day? Most of your money goes to your transaction charge...tsk tsk tsk ... there's another way.... paying cash...no charge...lol

Thank you.

regards,

Maria
