My hubby and i are hoping to have our IVA accepted shortly but this has been a question that we haven't been able to answer yet.

I am only 25 and we have a 2 year old. At the moment we are happy with the 1 child but who's to say in 2 years that we will feel the same. Can you have a baby within the IVA? And if so how will it affect it, I do not want to jeopardise anything but its really just to put our minds at ease.

If its impossible then we have the option of waiting the 5 years by which our son will be nearly 8 and having a newborn baby and hubby approaching 40.

I would be interested to hear if any of you have done, or if I'm being delirious.

We had a baby in our 2nd year of iva and it has been fine. We just had to reassess our income and expenditure to reflect the loss of wages and the benefits but we even had a 40 amount written in for nappies and milk.

There is nothing to prevent you from having a baby during an IVA. It is a normal occurrence and your IP will just review your payments based on the up to date income and expenditure at the time. Creditors may need consulted if payments have to be missed or lowered but other than that there is little to be concerned about.

You should have no problem at all.

Hope everything goes ok for you.

Lots of my clients have had babies during their IVAs, and manage perfectly well - usually by taking some form of payment break to cover reduced income whist on maternity leave.

IVAs are not meant to make you put your lives on hold, and with an undertanding IP you should have no problems at all.
