We have received a letter from a company called Financial Compensation Agency saying that public records. Show our IVA has reached closure but that we should be aware that there may be issues regarding the conduct of creditors and advisors prior to and during the agreement. They point out its nothing to do with PPI and they are offering free advice. Anyone else heard from them? More to the point what public records? Our IVA finished in April 2011 so where is it listed?

One more lot of ambulance chasers from what I can gather. If you have not had your completion letter then your details will be shown on the Insolvency register.

Seems to me as though they are now scaremongering amongst those waiting for closure.

Don't touch them with a ten foot barge pole.

I've googled them and can find no details - where do they come from?

Just to clarify we completed in April 2011 so we aren't on the register.

Can they get these details anywhere else?

I found a webpage but its virtually blank. Its a trading name of P Shipley.

No worries - it sometimes depends upon whether you ask a new question via the forum rather than go in through your profile.

I have no idea how they have your details.

I still can't find anything but would urge you to avoid them.

This is one of the several trading names of a company called P K Taylor-Shipley - who are a claims management company. I have no idea where they would have got your name from apart from back listings from the Insolvency Register.

A number of my ex-clients have had similar letters from them.

That's where mine's going. We received one this week too. I guess they hold back records of the IVA register and that's where the info comes from.. still it will give me one second of heat this winter when I throw it on the fire.
IVA Completed August 2011

Maybe the issue of "mis-sold IVAs" is being raised again Andy.

Hi I finished my IVA in June after a few issues with some of my creditors
1, They sold my debt in between my final statement and the completion letter.
2,The Royal Bank sending me a statement for a debt that had been settled in the IVA the experts might like to commenet on that one, The Bank are saying even though the debt was included in the IVA and that was completed satisfactory. As they had not received the full amount they were duty bound to send a statement The question really is when is a Debt not a Debt ? However The Halifax sent me £75 for my trouble.
3, Now a letter from the FCA
We would be grateful if you would call us in respect to the recent closure of a personal legal process. This may lead to you being compensated.
Then the usual crap please call on free phone etc .The matter we refer to, requires verbaql explanation, as it is based on specific personal circumstances.
I filed it in the preverbial

To most that would sound so offical, how they can get away with the wording that suggests a legal matter etc
Took The plunge and made the call, changed our family life and we have never been happier. Debt free and wont go back..... IVA was by far the best thing we ever did to teach us the real value of Family and money

I don't know as I say my IVA is completed I am quite happy with the result the creditors got over 45% back the IVA company got paid.
Words of the profit come to mind. But I can see a number of people picking the phone up and getting the usual ambulance chasers.
My posting was meant for the experts as it looks like they want to go after the I/P companies
