Thanks for the response but I feel the internal procedeure will not make a difference to the issue of completion but it may make a difference to the huge number of people who were not made aware of the VAT issue after their last payments. I had to contact the Debt People myself and was then given the same excuses of next month upon each contact. I am sure it is not the Ips fault but they should of made contact with those that finished to explain the HUGE delay. When I saw the post dated May 2012 on this forum, I was shocked that they made their final payment in April 2011 and have yet to complete. I am sure others were shocked! This problem is taking a year out of anyones credit history if they are trying to rectify their credit records. It is not fair and the company has to take some responsibilty because I am sure the clients would be in breech of their agreement if they were to behave the way the company has. I personally feel let down and frustrated as I felt supported when I was paying but now nothing even though The Debt People are telling me that I am still bound to the IVA as there has been no completion. I just wonder if anyone has been waiting since before April 2011. Myself since September 2011. I just feel that someone needs to do something and Watchdog have been known to get things moving in all direction by naming and shaming. Maybe they can sort out the VAT issue which can then in turn enable The Debt People to sort out client completions certificates. I am going to contact DEMSA as suggested by one forum person and I am certain I will not be the only one. Then go down other avenues if I do not get the results I am hoping! I can hundred percent say that I will not be recommending anyone in financial difficulty to the company as I would not want them to go through what others are going through!

It seems that Stephen offered to sort this out for you, so you must firstly take up his offer and contact him directly. Assume he the IP acting for you?

And I don't think that DEMSA will be of much use to you, as I don't thing the Debt People are members of that trade association.

Stephen has not offered to sort anything out for me specifically as he posted 6th June. Unless I have missed a post. He offered advice on complaints in relation to not having any communication with the company. That is how I understood it. I will be contacting them in writing then see what next course of action will be depending on the response. Thanks for response anyway. Just feel very frustrated as I am still tied to the company which I thought I would be free of after 5years.

Individual Voluntary Arrangments are personal appointments for the insolvency practitioner concerned, and do not actually belong to the firms in which the IP's operate. So I read Stephen's post in that he is personally responsible for you case, and to make contact with him. If I have misinterpreted his message, then perhaps he could come back onto the forum and clarify exactly who bussielizzie should be contacting.

Don't be frustrated - and remember that your IP is personally responsible for sorting out any complaint that you may have to make.

I have to say that DEMSA were excellent when I spoke to them. The Debt People are members of DEMSA which I why I contacted them. During the 60 month term of my IVA The Debt People were amazing! However, it was 1st April 2011 when I made my final payment. The Debt People had been telling me since last summer that I would get my completion paperwork shortly, then there was the VAT case. I contacted DEMSA on my 6th year anniversary as I was still being told that the VAT refund had not been settled. DEMSA did deal with it straight away and withing 4 days of contacting DEMSA they contacted The Debt People and DEMSA forwarded me a copy of their email saying the completion report was now being sent to me in that night's post! DEMSA were amazing! I just wish I had contacted them earlier! Hope this is of some help bussielizzie x

Thank you Helena.S. I emailed DEMSA last night and I am waiting to hear. I will contact them by phone if I have not heard by the end of the week.I totally agree that this VAT issue and telling the clients that next month and next month for completion reports is unacceptable. I will also be contacting Stephen direct in writing as he seemed keen to help. I appreciate the advice I have been given so far as I no longer want to be tied to the Debt People and be told that I am still legally bound to the IVA until the completion report has been done. I felt angry as I explained to one staff memeber that I honoured my side of the agreement which stated 60months. I do not want to reach 72months with them. Fingers crossed as I will accept help from DEMSA and if Stephen can sort it out before they intervene then that will be fantastic. Stephen, I will be writing to you or if you have a email adress I would appreciate it so I can email you as it is faster. Thanks again Helena as I was mis-informed that the Debt people were not members of DEMSA.I still emailed them regardless as I trusted any posts that had suggested they had used them.

My apologies to you both. I had not realised that this firm were linked to Chiltern, who are of course DEMSA members.

Thanks Melanie,I appreciate the advice. Thanks also Helena, DEMSA has been in touch and are now dealing with it. I will update the forum of the outcome so that if I have a positive outcome others can go down the same route. Thanks for all the advice as I felt that I have not been getting anywhere since especially January 2012 when I began to get frustrated.

Hi
Finished my IVA on April 17th 2012
received my completion certificate within weeks
the VAT had been paid back to my IP months ago
so there is no excuse for the delay people are getting

Thanks Colin, I wonder why yours was completed so quickily. I had a phone call from the Debt people today (Think that was because DEMSA had contacted them) and they have issued a completion report which should be on it's way to me.I spoke to Stephen(who was very nice and professional) who said that the refund for the VAT has come through so all completion reports should be issued. I am just glad that I have a result and it is a positive one. Thanks again to everyone who was supportive and I hope those that are still waiting go through the DEMSA route if they have no joy.
