My darling son is starting primary school in September and his jumper alone is £16 and I need two. Been lucky enough to purchase trousers from M&S with their 20& off etc. His uniform is also yucky bottle green. Just wondering when our review comes round can I add extra to cover these extra expenses, afterschools - school trips etc?
Brigadeen - you can but ask. I'd do cheap Asda/Tesco/Sainsburys for trousers when the other ones wear out.

There definately should be some leeway in people's budgets to cover school and educational expenditure. To be frank the CCCS allowance of £6 per child per month is grossly inadequate in my opinion.
I think that is bad Mel - school uniforms now are very expensive unless you can get anything other than jumpers, sweatshirts or ties from the supermarkets.

My daughter has to wear a business suit now she's in 6th form, she does only have one jacket but has trousers, skirt and tunic all to match said Jacket. So she can mix and match with various tops etc,
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
When son was at school the school had a second hand uniform sale. It was all good quality and saved us quite a bit on things like pe kit and blazers. When son left I just donated his uniform to the second hand shop as all profit went to the PTA.
My son needs new school uniform for September which we are able to get most of it from Tesco or Asda (hopefully Tesco and then we can use our clubcard vouchers, even better if they do double the points like last year) Unfortunately he does have to have the school sweatshirts which are £8 each and needs at least 2. £6 per child per month is not much at all.
Six pounds is nothing is it? Even with Tesco prices it's not going to go far!!

thankyou all for your help i spoke to the financial people at my iva
i needed help with my service 3 months ago of which they helped me but increased my payments over 6 months and they have also helped me by giving me £150 for both of the school uniforms and increased my payments by a further 4 months so at least he will be able to have his school uniform and they payment increased will finish after xmas which is good [:)]
when i took out the iva and was going through all the legalities and info about it i was told that i could hae a payment holiday if needed but hae been told that this isnt the case that a payment holiday are not available [?]
You need to check your paperwork - does it say anything in there about payment breaks? Most companies will allow them for something you can't afford to pay for upfront.

There is no automatic right to either a payment "holiday" or break in an IVA - IPs will view all cases on their own merits and will also want to know that their clients have explored all other avenues of funding before relying on the IVA payments.
