Ive just had a text saying "please call Aegis regarding MBNA"
Has anybody here dealt with Aegis or should I ring them and tell them what I am doing, i.e. negotiating an IVA with Payolan?

Aegis have obviously taken over the debt from MBNA.

It's up to you whether you ring them or not. Personally, I would ignore it.

I suppose they are to MBNA what Mercers are to Barclaycard - debt collectors.

Do I give them the name and number of my IP? are they sympathetic to your situation or do they harrass you?

I've had no dealings with them myself. You can give them the name and number of the IP, I am sure they will say that they can't speak to them though - most debt collectors say this.

Don't get into an argument with them, just tell them what you are doing and then put the phone down.

Hi ricbro

I've been constantly hassled by Aegis, on behalf of MBNA, I ignored their calls initially but plucked up the courage and spoke to them last week. The person was really pleasant and just wanted to know my case number and case officers details. This was Friday and touch wood, I haven't had a call since. Mind they are very persistent and won't give up, they rang both mobile and house every hour for 2 weeks solid. If I was you I would pluck up courage and speak to them, just explain you are going through the IVA process and see what they say. I also sent MBNA a token payment (not to Aegis) as there is no address on their letterhead!

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Another form of outrageous behaviour of agents working on behalf of MBNA not divulging their full details - this must be against the banking code!

I've got a missed call on my phone from a 'witheld' number, I'm assuming it's them, I will speak to them if they ring to give them basic details ofmy case officer, I have sent MBNA token payments so they do know what is happening,
Thanks

Yes it will be them, they use all sorts of numbers, including withheld ones. I dont think MBNA and Aegis communicate though, that seems to be the problem. I've even sent letters via MBNA asking them to forward onto Aegis but I don't think they bother!!

I finaly got to speak to someone at Aegis, at 9.00pm last night, I let him go through his spiel then I gave him my explanation of what was happening. He was very polite and said he would make a note for them to wait at least 2 weeks to take receipt of the details from Payplan, he then thanked me for the info. I hope the rest are as nice

AEgis contacted me again today, I went through the details again and he said, " I spoke to you yesterday, have you got any update?"
I politely said no and I will let him know when there is.
