I think the equity situation is the most important thing here so personally I would instruct a local agent and obtain a valuation. If there is no equity bankruptcy may be the best option as you do not want to pay over money that could be badly needed in the future.

My friend has offered me £8500.
I spoke to Freeman Jones today and they have told me what I need to send in. I just hope this will be accepted as I really don't want to default on the IVA. I have handed in my notice at work (as I feel I will be unable to fulfil my role, and will eventually be sacked anyway), and have been offered a new job with no lifting etc. thing is, I can still only work part time due to my back, and may still require further surgery. Also, my childcare costs are going to go up due to my change in working hours. Fingers crossed, this will be accepted, as my expenditure is now more, which will reflect in my annual review in October and I may be unable to meet the payments I am making now!
Not to mention that I now have to start seeing a psychiatrist because of the effect of this and my back on my mental health!
