Good evening everyone, firstly may i wish you all have very happy new year!

As you will see this is my first post on here, but have been in the background for sometime and have always found my answers on here somewhere so I thank you for keeping this site alive its been a real font of knowledge for us.

A little back ground on us, we have been in our IVA now for nearly 2 years (July will be 2yrs) and we have had no issues or problems since being in the IVA and to be honest its been the best thing that we have ever done, and im glad that in another 3 yrs there will be a light at the end of the tunnel for us.

My reason for posting is as stated in the subject, i really need some information/advice on a little question that i have.

We are expecting our first baby in June of this year, we are both very happy and very excited at starting a family, I know this is far from the best time to start expanding our family as we have committed to this IVA, but we had been trying a long time prior to going into the IVA and to be honest we were on the verge of giving up, but we have found out that i am expecting our first. I am 32 years old and was getting a little worried that if i waited till the IVA was over my slim chance of having a baby would be nearly extinct!!

I have not informed our IVA company yet, as we have had many problems in the past we have decided to wait off on telling too many people (i know declaring it on here is a little bit of a contradiction!) till we have had our 20 week scan to make sure all is well.

I know in the past when i have chatted off the record to our contact at the IVA company they have said that they would do their best to help and make things a little more bareable and that they would take into account that its only temporary (6-9 months) as i would have to go back to work regardless, but im worried due to the SMP that i would get, how do IVA companies help? what do they do to help us or should i not expect to much.

Any help, advice or information would be GREATLY appreciated.
Many thanks
Roisin

Hi Roisin,

Congratulations; best wishes for your pregnancy.

Your IP will need to take account of such a significant change in your circumstances. I'm sure one of the IP's that post on the site will be along soon to explain how that might work in practice.

Hi
Great news
Your IP will assist you and,if needed, call a variation meeting to reduce your payments whilst you are on maternity leave.
Just keep your IP informed
Creditors will understand

Hi and congratulations
Speak to your IP and they will advise, they can call a variation meeting, this is a fancy way of saying they will tell your creditors that your financial situation has changed, and make a revised offer of payment and the likely implication to the dividend dependent on the time that the reduced payment will be in place. If you have been making regular payments since you IVA started your creditorsand the liklyhood of increased payments at a later date you could be ok

Thank you all for your congratulations and advice, I shall inform my IP once i have had the all clear at the end of january, i know im leaving it late but its just a concern with previous problems i am hoping they will understand. As i said in my original post i have had no bad issues with my IP so i am confident they will be just as supportive, i was just wondering what they would do for us, and I feel that you have all answered my worries.
Many thanks
