Same day payment - usually for large sums of money in the UK (ie house purchase /car etc) Banks charge for this about £25
Faster same day payments have replaced a lot of them - but these are resticted to a certain amount about £1000 - these take up to 2 hours(or even less. Not all bank use this electronic method yet.
