As Paul says, it is very nearly due to drop off anyway.

Thank you all for your help I will wait to see if default then drops off the credit report. Once the default drops off will my credit rating improve? The only credit I have is my mobile phone contract which is paid for every month by dd.

It should improve -- keep an eye open for Notices of correction and get them removed. An email to the CRA should suffice.

Credit score in reality is pretty meaningless and creditors all apply different criteria.

Dont expect massive instant improvements. You need to build up a rating and history over time, showing good on time regular payments. Small catalogue accounts etc are good ways to start the rebuild process.

Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

Hopefully this will soon all be over. It has been hard but I have learnt. I have been without credit for over 5 years but one day I would like a mortgage and am hoping that my credit rating will help me.
