Just a post to remember the victims, survivors and the workers from that terrible day.

I have friends who live in New York and one of them has a brilliant view of Manhattan from his yard - he actually saw the second plane hit. Can't imagine what that must have been like.

His son was NYPD at the time and was there helping out.

Thankfully he was ok.

Can't believe it was 10 years ago - still sends a shudder down my back when I think of it all. Seeing that second plane hit must be an awful thing to deal with! Love to everyone affected by that terrible day x

I can remember everything about that day very clearly. I remember trying to phone our friends (we have two lots who live in Queens) to find out if they were all ok.

I'd been up the Trade Towers as well, twice and it was a fantastic experience.

I worked for a help desk for Tiscalli ISP. On that morning as you might imagine the internet froze for over 8 hours and by the end of it I was exasperated with the attitude of my callers and totally lost it with the final one (final cos me boss took off line LOL).This was in the days prior to broadband and if you remember when USA came on line everyone else seemed to suffer. The thing is I couldn't get the subscribers to understand the enormity of what was happening in America and how it would affect logging on in this country.

My thoughts are still with them today though ... I lost a couple of Messenger Friends on that day and still miss our chats.

It's one of those events where you will always remember where you were on that day, and I recall just finishing a job in Salisbury around 2pm, getting into the van for the 2 hour drive back to Birmingham, turning the radio on for the Sports report and then hearing the events unfold 'live' for the duration of the journey - I just could not believe that it was happening, as a frequent visitor to the USA I knew that future visits would never be the same again - people are still dying from the 'fall-out' of 9/11 so the nightmare is not over for them, so my thoughts and sympathies are with all those people today.

I was at work, just had a meeting in another office and came back in to find everyone in a huddle. My first thought was that the Queen Mother had died!!!!

One of my colleagues said that a plane had been kidnapped - I did have to point out that he meant hijacked!!!!!

Hubby phoned me to tell me what had happened. Another of my colleagues had a small TV and we watched it on that. I was on a late shift and there was not a lot of work done that night as we watched the TV mostly.

I was at work all day and at night had arranged to have a catch up in a local pub for a meal at tea-time, we did go to the pub but didn't eat and just watched the TV as was everyone else.

It happened during my lunch hour and my mum told me a plane had hit the World Trade Centre. I hadn't heard of the WTC at the time so it didn't mean a lot to me, and I just presumed it was a small plane had hit a tower block and I wasn't particularly interested. Then I saw it on the TV and realised what was actually happening.

While I feel really sorry for everyone who was killed, I always have sympathy for those killed in the Pentagon crash and on Flight 93 (which I am convinced was shot down) as they seem to be forgotten in comparison to those who died at the WTC.

I was working in London that week and it was most bizarre not to hear planes flying over. We were evacuated as were near Canary Wharf and so sat in my hotel room watching in disbelief.

It certainly changed the world.
