Hi guys, haven't posted on here for quite some time now but I still look in most days to seeh how everybody is doing. Things for us are jogging along quite nicely and i feel that going into an IVA has been the best decision that we have ever made. Although this time last year I was under the threat of redundancy I have managed to hold on to my job albeit on a lower wage, however hubby has had a wage rise which has compensated. My IVA company have been brilliant so far and we had our annual review in July which was done speedily and fairly. Still get stressed when something goes wrong in the house and wonder where I will find the money. For example our cooker blew up last week but instead of calling out an engineer I went online to diagnose and fit anew element myself for £20!! For all of you out there starting out I wish you luck, it isn't always easy but in my opinion far less stressful than having creditors chasing you and not enough money for food. Now I feel organised in my life and in control, something I haven't felt for years.

Nice to read positive experiences from members on here!

Five years is certainly a long enough period to try and re-train that brain when it comes to spending.

Good luck for your remaining term of the Arrangement

Yes 5 years of rehabilitation, but it will be worth it to become debt free. It is amazing how much money we have wasted over the years. At least now on payday what money I have is my own after bills and iva payment. Its like the fog is lifting!

Kallis, believe me it was so easy. From now on I am always going to see if I can fix things. there is loads of info on the web and one of the sites I used for help was www.fixed4free.com Obviously I made sre the power was definitely off!! In the past I have too easily called for help and had big repair bills. This will not be the case anymore as i will always have a go myself from now on, and i am normally rubbish at these sort of things.

My hubby says that I am the kiss of death on anything like that! I haven't a clue at repairing anything.

I am too Jan, but luckily my hubby can fix most things or he knows someone who can...
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Go to your profile and then on the right hand side you will see a place which says frugal friends for Elv5. Just click on the drop down list, select me. Then click on 'add Frugal Friend' and then you will be able to email me.
