Well ... hearing has been a little "off" lately so I decided to get the lugholes tested last week.

First I went to an independant specialist, who did his tests and had a chat, showed me the results and reco, mended a pair of aids costing a tad over £2000 (yeah, right !!).

So, I thought I would have a second opinion and visited a High Street audiology expert -- did the same tests with the same result. All good at least the test results were corroberated. Anyhooo --- he wanted to sell me a pair of aids for "between 2 and 4 thousand !!!!

On a roll I went to Specsavers, as they were offering a two for one deal. Right at the start the audiologist said there will be one of two outcomes ..... I get advised to have hearing aids, or I get told I have to put up with dodgy hearing for a while longer. Yeah, I thought --- aids for a couple of grand here we come!

So, did the tests (somewhat more thoroughly) and, lo and behold, came up with the same results. Then she took the wind out of my sails by saying there was no point in spending hundreds ( not thousands) on hearing aids for what would be such little benefit !!!! They actually put my needs above there sales figures !!!

Mind you -- if I really did need them the NHS can do the honours !!! But thought I'd mention that Specsavers aren't all about profit !!!
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I think Specsavers are excellent - I've been getting my glasses from them for years and the service I've had from my branch is better than the independent optician I tried last time who insisted I needed new glasses at a couple of hundred pounds! I went back to Specsavers and they said there was nothing wrong with the glasses I have, again putting me before their profits.

I go to Specsavers too, and she is joking with me when she slates them and does have valid points about the frames etc.,

I'd go to an independent optician if they weren't so expensive! To add insult to injury, as well as trying to get me to buy their mega expensive frames they wanted me make an appointment to go back to choose them as presumably the Saturday kid wasn't allowed to unbolt them from the display! Not the sort of service I expect!

I've had the same frames for years now and I love them and will probably get them reglazed this time if necessary.

A couple of weeks ago I took my contact lenses out and went to put my glasses on and realised one of the lenses was missing as the screw had fallen out of the frame. Dave bless him asked me if I could see where it was! I'd struggle to find something that small if I still had my lenses in! In the end he patiently took apart an old frame, took the screw out and put mine back together. I wish I had his patience!

Oh now that has made me laugh out loud! Me in front of a group is not a good sign, I'm a blithering idiot most of the time but in a large crowd it gets worse!
