I do wish that people who send in CVs actually bothered using a spell check! I can't understand why they would think it was acceptable to send a CV full of mistakes - if I was employing them I wouldn't care if they were the best candidate for the job, the CV would be in the bin!

I got my jobs which I currently do through competency based questions not a CV, some places never see a CV.

I just want to make the most of my 30 minutes and do as well as I can as I'm being inspected so need it to be fun and inclusive learning. x

I even considered doing my presentation on debt remedies, but then thought maybe they'd wonder how I knew so much about DMP's, IVA's etc., ! don't want to arouse suspicion but I bet they'd have found it informative to say the least. x

I agree Skippy, some of the basic errors on job applications are easily avoided.

At the moment I'm process mapping recruitment for a proposed HR shared service centre. Recruitment will be made via application form (online hopefully) rather than CV.

As for the date of birth on CV's unless it's a legal requirement for the role, I wouldn't advise it. In my HR experience, I have seen too much "off the record" age related discrimination.

Good luck Lesley. you'll be great [:)]

My cousin works for a publishing company and they were advertising for proof readers. She was amazed at how many CVs contained mistakes. I would have thought that it was common sense to triple check your CV if you were applying for that sort of role!

It surprises me these days how bad grammar and spelling is in everything. Spell check is available in most things and whilst I'm not perfect, grammar is one thing I do pride myself on.

I mark so tend to mark everything but make lots of pointless mistakes myself.

I get dyslexic when I am fatigued -- it's even worse when using a keyboard !!! Mentioned it to the doc when I had an assessmtn last week and apparently it's normal (well ... normal for me !!).
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I don't mind predictive sometimes, especially if it's a long word! Depends on whether or not I'm in a hurry or if it's a long reply when on the phone!

I hate getting spelling and grammar wrong!!!

I've done and seen some classics in my time.

I used to work in a call centre and we took orders from Times readers for Orchids at Christmas, you had to type the card out for the customer to be placed with the flowers.

To a dear friend actually read To a dead friend.....one very unhappy Times reader! I wasn't the typist on that occasion I hasten to add.
