Guys,

If I were unhappy with my IVA company is it possible to move my IVA to another providor? Is it easy/costly to do?

Thanks,

600andy

You could allow your IVA to fail and seek another company to propose a new one for you but you would need pretty good reasons for doing so and creditors may no be so accepting a 2nd time around.

Whats the problem and which company is it with?

It may be difficult to get another IP to take on your IVA if it has failed for non compliance or no valid reason. You are better to sort out any problems you have with your existing IP.

I agree, if you let your IVA fail now, you will be back to square one with the creditors and may find it difficult to get another IVA.

Speak to your IP and try and sort things out before taking any drastic action.

Thanks guys. Well I just dont have confidence in them although today, having been able to speak to the actual IP rather than his administrator, we did get a MUCH better response. I cant name the company on here as they do appear to look on here and I was once challenged after giving my personal opinion about them....No, I will not let it fail but will see it through......until now, whenever we have tried to make a point with them, they have been quite defensive.........

Why are you not happy about the level of service you are receiving Andy?

Mel, we have constantly felt that having placed the IVA that they were no longer so interested in us. There were many mistakes on all paperwork submitted to us - and in fact our first draft was actually someone elses but with our "numbers" in it! We have learned many things "after" the event and just feel that whenever we phone we are an inconvenience and made to feel that we are social lepers. Our Account Manager is authoritarian and intimidating, so much so that we dont like to sepak with them, and the only contact we get from them otherwise is an annual I&E form.....it all feels like a very unpleasant albeit important relationship - there is no comfort or feel good with dealing with them. Our IP is great, but he is SO hard to get to speak to....dont quite understand why the Account Manager is so resistant in letting us speak with him - and whenever we try to correspond with him, they intercept everything. I guess I just expected better and so many forum members appear to have gotten a better deal.........sorry, just grumbling - in real terms, the months are tumbling on and were getting on with it - were nearly half-way through and it has been hard but manageable.

I think that you should side-step the manager and speak directly to the IP about your concerns. They will also be concenred that you are not receiving a great service from their staff and are sure to want to put things right. IPs must make themselves available to their clients if necessary - it is simply not good enought to say "we don't take calls".

You also said that they look on this site. In my experience that is only ever a good thing. They pick up feedback and try to address things. I only found out the other day that my IP firm (Grant Thornton) view these pages and take feedback from them.

I completely agree with Melanie - if your advisor or case manager is disagreeable, you should inform your IP directly. He should always be available to talk.

You could also request a different case manager within the practice.
