Hi,

Apologies for asking questions that others have asked however as everyones situations seem to differ slightly I was wondering if anyone could pass on some advice about my situation:

I am about 16 months into my IVA. Original debt of £27500 and paying £498 a month. I have recently been enquiring with my IP about a possible pay off and he gave me a figure of £11,370 (around that mark anyway, haven't got the paperwork in front of me), as I am paying 49p of the pound.

I hear it is good to potentially offer more than that though and i can offer up to £13,000 max (Extremely lovely brother has offered).

I was wondering if anyone who has been down this road or knows about it can possibly share some advice about the best way to increase the Creditors chances of saying Yes or perhaps from the above can advise on what my chances are?

I have been asking my IP and Insolvency Company however it's a nightmare...They are about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike!!

Look forward to hearing from some one soon.

Rgds

Hi Midge and welcome to the forum. Never apologise for asking questions - that is the very raison d'etre of this site, and the good thing is that other posters also benefit from your questions and the answers submitted by the experts and other posters.

I love the expression of ashtray and motorbike. I shall now add that to my vocabulary, as the chocolate teapot is getting boring!

With an offer of settlement in line with that originally pledged, and assuming that you have no property where you have to raise equity, I feel that you are making a good offer and that you do not need to do anything to enhance it. Why would you, as creditors are getting paid back much earlier from someone else's money.

I have put forward lots of offers like this and never had one turned down, so good luck!

Thank you very much for the speedy response. I will keep you posted with how I get along.

Enjoy the new phrase too, I might start using the chocolate teapot !
