Hi

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on here. Although I've not posted before I've used this forum as a resource for knowledge and reassurance over the past few years.

I'm glad to say that today I've managed to make my F&F payment to my IP. What a great feeling! Now time to move on with my life and not to get into the same situation again.

If anyone is thinking about taking an IVA then I would reccomend you think long and hard about it. I should have really went for bankruptcy but wanted to atleast make an effort to payback some of my debts.

Since starting my life and situation has change massively. Like wise my payments also changed from just £120 to over £400. This made my IVA change from a relief to a burden as 5 years is a hell of a long time. I am very fortunate in that an opportunity arose to make an F&F offer (less than total on new payment level but more than original level) which was accepted.

My next challenge now is to rebuild my credit file an prepare for the birth of my first child.

Once again thanks to all on here and if I can help anyone please let me know.

Hi and welcome. I'm glad you have found the forum a great help.

Well done on your f&f being accepted. Ours was in February and it's such a relief to have it finished, even though I realise our credit rating will be shot for a few more years!

Good luck with the baby. Let us know how things go. I hope you continue to use the forum - I have as it keeps me grounded and I still need a lot of help budgeting!!

Hi Almost There, welcome to the forum,

What a great post to read - thank you for popping on to put your comments - it is great to know the help you got just by reading and I am really pleased you have come to the end of your IVA - well done.

I notice your payment rose quite a lot but hopefully that was due to there being more income available as payments should only change in line with what is available otherwise, as you say, it becomes a struggle which is not the intention. Either way, it is in the past for you and by the sounds of it you have a very exciting imminient future ahead.

Best of luck and best wishes with your new arrival when he/she arrives. I hope you stay on the forum to join in now and again between nappy changes!

Thanks for the kind replies and best wishes.

Yes my payment went up due to a new job with a better salary and only slightly increased costs.

I will continue to post and hopefully my experience will help others. In the real world I've spoken about it to 2 people who are in a bad way with debt and similar to myself 3 years ago and hopefully it gave them a bit of light at the end of the tunnel!
