I've been away from the forum for a little while. After being ill for some time, I thought it was down to the stress of the debt situation so i took a bit of time away the forums to clear my head instead of obsessivly reading every post trying to work out what my own outcome would be, but the illness turned out to be something unrelated.

Congratultions to harrysmummy, UnionCityGirl, debt tired and Charlygirl. - I know you guys were going through the process at a similar time to me

A huge success here too, and apologies for taking so long to report back.

My IVA got accepted.

I truly believe that this wouldn't be the case if I hadn't found this forum.

My situation was pretty complicated, Self employed, my accounts were a mess, my year end is at an odd time which throws an extra level of confusion to the mess I was already in.

Vincent Bond were great when I first spoke to them at the end of last year.

I now realise how important it is, if you are self employed, you really need an IP that knows what they are doing in this area. - It's a lot more complicated than doing an IVA if you have a regular income.

I'm so glad I went with Melanie Giles and her team. - They have been so patient and helpful in putting together everything that was needed. They really know their stuff. A truly lovely bunch of people, and they make a nice coffee too

From the great depths of despair we were in at the end of last year, we have now got our lives back. There's gas and electric on the meters, and we've even got food in the fridge.

Proposed £250 / month which gives back 23p in the £1

HMRC, Wonga, Santander (£500) & Natwest Business Credit Card didn't vote.

Virgin (MBNA) voted in favour but wanted modifications, mainly to IP's fee's . They had 1.67% of vote, so that was rejected.

All the other votes were provided by TIX which gave them 98.33%. Minimum modifications, - They were happy with IPs fee's which i'm glad about, as Mel's team really did have to put a lot of time into helping find a solution to sort out the mess i had gotten myself in, especially with my accounts.

some of the modifications, I don't understand, but one of them was to pay an extra 2 months, in order to keep a private number plate which I bought for £500. - It's probably worth more than the car its attached to lol!

I know I was reading loads of this kind of info when I first started my IVA journey, so hopefully the info above will be useful to others just starting out.

I am concerned that you are posting that you do not understand some of the modifications. Can you give me a call in the office tomorrow to discuss this, as you would have confirmed your agreement to all of them in writing before we confirmed the IVA as accepted.

My mistake Mel, - I shouldn't have wrote that how it sounded, Marc was kind enough to take the time to explain on the phone at the time about every modification. I know the modification about Cat 2 dispersement charges is there, but I would struggle to re-explain what it means now in a post without getting my head around it all again. Everything was explained at the time to me.

I didn't mean to write it in a way that looked like it hadn't been explained, so I'm sorry for that, my bad.

You guys have been amazing from start to end, I'll be forever grateful for what you have done to turn things around for us

Category 2 disbursements are expenses that an IP might want to try an recover from the IVA funds - common ones are use of a room in the IPs office for the holding of the creditors meeting, stationery costs etc.

Don't worry about your wording CT - I was just worried that we had left you confused about something which as you know if not our style. Thanks again for taking time to post.

Great news carpet toaster. Everyone knows that Mel and her team are stellar, so you are in great hands there. Good luck with the IVA; you get used to it after a while, and what you feared would be terribly onerous can certainly feel a bit tough sometimes [that's the point at which you pick up the phone / email your IP] but it turns out to be manageable, educative and bearable. You learn to live with and within it.
