We only just have our IVA approved and me and hubby are trying to set our selves somes goals. The fist being a new kitchen. We estimate that we can do it for £1000 and hope to save a little each month. My question is can our IVA provider take this money from us? I don't want to save up for nothing!!

Hi Alys,

It's great to have goals, will help keep you focused during the IVA. If you can make some savings on your expenditure, then its yours to do whatever you want. Some posters have managed to save for a holiday.

God luck with the plan x

No you can save from your allowances. Don't be too upset however if some months you cannot save at all. I thought we'd have money each month, but it hasn't worked out like this for us.

But go for it - makes you more frugal when you have a goal.

Any savings you can make are yours to do with as you wish.

And savings are absolutely essential whilst in an IVA, as a contingency fund for when things go wrong and you need to replace something essential.
