Hello, I had my IVA approved yesterday, today I feel numb. After over 60 years of solvency I am now insolvent and it isnt a good place to be.

Hi lancslass and welcome to the forum! Congratulations on having your IVA approved. It is a big step and like you I felt a bit numb signing all the docs and returning them. I think none of us like the idea of being insolvent and often ask 'how did we get here?'. But you are in much better place now since there is light at the end of the tunnel. It's hard to face up to things sometimes... at least that's how I felt and whilst I don't like the idea of being insolvent that is the reality of my situation so now Im just determined to get back to being solvent again. There's no quick fix but at least you are on the road to being debt free again and I hope to be soon. I hope you start feeling better about it soon.

Well done on the IVA approval. In time you'll settle into the life of the IVA nicely, I didn't want the IVA but soon settled into the way of the IVA and can see the end coming along nicely and you'll be in the same place one day. Take each month at a time. Keep posting on the forum as we're all here to support each other. x

Thank you all, its nice to know Im not on my own. On one hand it feels weird not being able to pay what I owe, on the other Im thinking, the banks have had so much out of me over the years, perhaps its time I was free of them.
Im using Clear Debt, they have been really good so far. I supose one month at a time is the only way through.
Thank you for all your support, it is much appreciated.

hi, well done. knowing we are insolvant isn't great but it's where we are- for now. facing it is the only way things will change - for the better![;)] were you really solvent?? or was your head in the sand???

it helps to know you're not alone. it was October last year when i found out what a mess we were in,i went sick when i realised there was a "problem".

i remember in the December, sitting in a cafe with my hubby, watching everyone carring bags & bags of Christmas shopping, wondering how many of them would be feeling sick when cc bills fell through the door in the new year??

hope you're up& running with your new budget - i love having cash EVERY WEEK for food& petrol[:D]

my hubby's had a bit of a sulk on him, he's had to order new glasses, he's been misrable about the cost( quite amazing when this time last year i found out he'd got secret cc's & loans i knew nothing about[V]),
i keep telling him how well we're doing - they'll be paid for in cash - this time last year he'd have put them on a cc & never been able to pay for them in full.

things can only move forward for you now, you're in a better place, well done.
