hi,
so pleased i found this site as i start off on my iva journey, all advice and help welcome,
i run a fairly successful public house so a couple of years ago a friend and my self decided to take on a couple more , before we knew we had a mini empire (6 pubs)natwest throwing overdrafts at us , money was coming in and every one was getting paid , then the recession started to bite . overdrafts went uncleared the revenue not getting paid for vat and paye we tried but could not catch up.
we managed to get some debt such business rates and some utility bills put into our ltd company name , hind sight is a great thing and i know everything should of been but we didn't.
after been told by tenon that i could not qualify for a personal iva did not think to include all business debts that are in my name(muppet).rang the national debt advice line who said to put it all together and call grant thornton so i did and i have a meeting set up on the 5th of nov, i know i made mistakes but just want to be debt free and carry on running my pub, and looking forward to been debt free fingers crossed .
all replies welcome and looking forward to sleeping at night again and enjoying a stress free family life.[:)]

Hi Benson,

Great post. You have made those all important steps and admitted your problems and are halfway towards getting them sorted.

Grant Thornton are a good company and have a good reputation on here.

Any questions or advice - you know where we are!

Good luck for the 5th.

You have made a very good choice with Grant Thornton, just make sure that you have detailed face to face meeting with your IP or a senior member of their team given that you are self-employed.

Good luck with the creditors meeting.

Hi Benson
Like you I'm just starting out. I received my pack today with a list of all the paper work needed. I have most of it ready, just waiting for mortgage redemption statement and need to arrange a house evaluation. The only other thing I'm missing is the paperwork for my unsecured loan which, I assume they will be able to send me a copy of that? I'm really not looking forward to speaking to them as I have my original current account was with them but have now switched leaving an overdraft. So far I haven't had too much trouble with creditors phoning me up but I'm sure worse is to come!
