After struggling with money for the past 7 years I've finally sought help and am going down the IVA route. My creditors meeting is this friday and I'm terrifed they'll say no. God only knows what we'll do if they do.

Is there any guideline as to when a creditor is more likely to say yes or does it just depend on which side of the bed they got out of?

Welcome to the forum. Good luck for Friday. I know how awful you must be feeling but you're trying to sort it out so you should feel proud.

I think that creditors will accept if they know it is the absolute best offer that you have put forward.

Why don't you post a bit more info and the experts can comment for you. Not long to go, chin up. Viki X

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I can remember this feeling all too well, as can alot of people on here.
Your IP wouldn't put the proposal to the creditors if they weren't confident, so try and stay positive, I'm sure you will get the outcome you want on friday.
Best of luck, and look forward to hearing that is is accepted.
k.

Welcome to the forum downinthedumps. Fingers crossed that you get the result that you need. IP's wont waste time putting forward proposals to get knocked back so fingers crossed.

thanks. The sheer volume of emotions I have had gone through these past weeks is just overwhelming. From the humiliation of recounting just how much in debt we were to the IP over the phone, the feeling of relief that someone listened without being judgemental and proposed something that whilst not a walk in the park was liveable with, dealing with the creditors phone calls and now this final run up to the creditors meeting. I have never felt so emotionally drained.

From where I stand the IVA makes 100% sense but reading all the postings here of those who have been turned down they all seemed to make sense too! so trying ti understand why creditors would turn an IVA down.

My partner and I (joint IVA) have approx 50k each with the likes of M&S, MBNA, Egg and a whole host of others :-(

Hi down in the dumps.

It right, such an emotional time youre having. It hits quite hard when you sit down and work it out, right? Boy do you feel bad, its like you can see your world falling down. However, you already done the hardest part, looking at it and trying to do something about it. Youre on your way to a new life already. There is an snswer to every problem, yours is just round the corner. Like the others have said, your IP wouldnt be doing all this work if they think its not going to be accepted.

Good luck for Friday, make sure you only propose what you can realistically afford, its not worth agreeing to something that cant work.

Try to relax now, (easier said than done, I know) and remember you have done all you can its up the the creditots to see that.

Hi

I too along with my partner, who ended up having an IBS attack when we were waiting for our meeting know exactly how you feel. Good luck to you for the meeting. I am also amazed at the sense or lack of it on behalf of creditors who vote no when they know they are going to get some money back. It does make you wonder if they would prefer us to go down the Br route. We have started getting the phone calls again, it has taken Lloyde less than a week to start calling again after the decision, Lloyds by the way were one of the main creditors who voted against. Talking to them calmly is not easy. We are now looking at a DMP, paperwork gone off today for that. We will be waiting a while then going back for an IVA.

Thanks for now

John

Hi downinthedumps, if it's any help, the wife and myself were accepted with Egg & MBNA.

Every case is different, but believe me, we all know what you're going through, try to stay positive and keep us informed, best of luck for Friday
