My partner has a child from a previous relationship.
He provides for the child as agreed with the mother, As its not formally done by CSA, would he still be able to list that down as one of his outgoings if going down iVA route? how would they want proof of the childs exsistence
As know he gives as much as he can and if hes got more funds available, gives as much as he can

So long as the payment is in line with CSA guidelines there should be no problem in declaring this as essential expenditure. He must understand that if he is insolvent, his creditors will only expect him to be paying the statutory amount to his former partner, as they will view any additional sums as being paid at their expense.

Thanks Melanie, understand his payment may have to be reduced, if to coincide with CSA guidelines, his priority was to his son.
Wots sitauation on self employed, his current employment satus looks bleak talk of redundancies, realsie iva can not be undertaken if unemployed

There is no problem with him entering an IVA if he is self-employed - but he will need to demonstrate a viable business that is able to produce an income for him, with some level of credible track record.

I believe that IVA's were originally created for Self-Employed people, so it is not a problem to be self-employed. However I would seriously consider that if your partners business hasn't been up and running for at least 6 months it would be hard to get a clear indication of his monthly income.
