I was due my annual pay rise and performance bonus in July this year. Due to the department and union not reaching agreement this is only just being paid now at the end of November (hopefully)! Had it been paid on time I would be £790 performance bonus better off and my monthly increase as my IVA was not approved until September 18th!

Since my IVA has been approved I have moved from owning to rented accomodation, sold my car and downgraded to a old banger - handed over the excess money as per IVA agreement.
During the move we have had to pay out 6 mths rent up front as well as a 6 wk deposit, buy fridge, wardrobes and payout for a BT landline to be installed as the place we're renting is new - in total alot of money.

My question is - is it worthwhile asking my IP to look at my case sympathetically when I receive my bonus in November in the hope that he will allow me to retain my performance bonus for this year?

Hi
Well you should be able to keep 50% of it at least.
You can explain all to your IP and see what they say.Have you had to borrow off family to buy anything ?

Put up a good case, and you never know what might be agreed, but I would put your request in writing to make it appear more credible.

Thanks - I will put it in writing and keep my fingers crossed! That money in it's entirity would pay for all of the extra things we have had to buy since moving, paying the final bills etc etc - deposit for a new BT phone line as we did not pass the credit check etc etc - we could certainly do with it.

Hi, I received a performance bonus of £1,000 last month and was allowed to keep all of it! Was so pleased! Fingers crossed you will to!
