Hi all, I hope everyone is okay. I am getting hassle from a couple of creditors - constantly. NR are calling 3 times a day, even though I keep telling them I am bankrupt. One of the credit card companies has called and demanded payment of arrears, even though I have told them that I am bankrupt. They said until they receive written confirmation from the OR, I am liable for the debt! Surely this isn't right. If this keeps happening, I guess I will just have to change my home and mobile numbers - they still have my work phone number though! [V] I had my interview with the OR on 22nd October, but haven't heard anything back about IPA or BRO yet - is this normal? Sorry to go on, but I am really stressed out and worrying now. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks guys. D.

Hi
Yet another incorrect statement from debt collection staff. No you are not liable for any debt once you are declared bankrupt..........so don't worry yourself with that.
It takes time for companies to update records I'm afraid, just be short and firm with them.
Don't worry about not hearing back from the OR it's quite normal and i'm almost certain that any payment orders are not back dated.

Hi Douglass
Sorry to hear you are being harrassed. Goldfish/mbna were the nightmare for me after BR but I complained and they soon stopped.
I cannot believe the crap that they come out with.
Suggest you make a complaint or tell them to remove your contact number from their database and all correspondence must be in writing which you will forward to the OR. Bet they dont request payment then.
Take care
Pippa

douglass if they phone you again tell them they are asking you to breach the terms of your BR by asking for payment, fax them a copy of your BR cert and telephone your Or and ask them to get in touch with NR and tell them they are constantly phoning you.

We have been bankrupt for over 2 months and are having all kinds of hassle too!
Our OR has told our creditors TWICE that we are bankrupt, but we had a CCJ and then an Interim Charging Order on the house granted AFTER bankruptcy from Northern Rock.
I spoke to Nrock on Thursday to update them and told them again about the bankruptcy but first thing on Monday morning a man called at my house from Nrock wanting to know my intentions regarding the house and my debts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aaaaaaarhh
Car-wise, my car has been taken away cos I have not paid it since July, Hubby has not paid for his since August, the HP company rang him today and asked about missed payments, he told them he was bankrupt, they said they cannot take the car away until they receive notification from the OR, but they have already had this TWICE! Anyway, thanks to them, we now can have free motoring for a bit longer then! Haha
Yorkshire bank have been a right nuisance, they say they will continue with legal action and do not believe us about the bankruptcy until they get notification, apparently MY copies are not good enough and it has to come from the OR himself! They are writing about twice a week to us.
I was getting into a state about all this hassle but now I don’t care, I just forward all my letters on to the OR now, luckily we have not had many calls, but I will just direct them to the OR, don’t worry about it, they will have to take notice eventually!!!!!!!

I suggest you search the bankruptcy register on the attached link to confirm that your bankruptcy has been registered. You can then refer creditors to that, if necessary.
http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/
There is no way that a CCJ and charging order should have been granted after your bankruptcy and I would suggest that you draw this to the attention of the OR.
As to nuisance creditors try asking them for their consumer credit license number implying that you will be making a complaint and refuse to discuss the debt.

I've got a pile of copies of my BR notice and if any of my creditors give me hassle they get a copy of that sent Recorded Delivery!

Guys - I had this for the first month or so .. ask whoever phones you to transfer the call to their bankruptcy team .. all major creditors have them, if they wont do that ask to speak to their supervisor. I found the bankruptsy teams generally supportive and once they had the details .. all the calls stopped ..
cheers

Andy, Pippa, Kez, Jane, Catullus, Skip, Mish - thank you all very much. My father said that NR phoned 8 times whilst I was at work yesterday! What a disgrace. He told them I wouldn't be there till after 6, but they just kept calling and calling. So I spoke wtih them last night, and I am really sorry to say, I lost it with them big time! Still, I thought they had got the message - till they called me at 8.10 this morning! ARGH!
On another note, thank you all for your support and advice - I really appreciate it - this forum is an absolute lifeline. Thanks guys. D.
