I am talking to this company about a possible IVA next week. Has anyone had any experiences with them, good or bad?

Can I ask who referred you to Grant Thornton?

The Credit Consumer Counselling Service. They didn't actually recommend them - I filled out an online questionnaire, stating that I would like someone to get in touch about IVAs, then someone rang me from Grant Thornton. I have since arranged to have a telephone interview with them next week. But I am wondering whether I should look at other IVA providers at the same time.
Do you have any thoughts?

Hi husnabn
Welcome to the forum there is so much information to be gleaned here. With regards to looking at other IVA companies, I personally would have as my first point of call a certain lady who has already replied to you. Having worked in this industry for quite a while I have not come across anyone as good at this type of work, you only need to read the postings of others to confirm this. Best of luck utilise what`s here for you.

Hi
I have also been referred to Grant Thornton by the CCCS and would appreciate any feedback on them. I have got a 2nd telephone appt with them and in the meantime have been asked to gather as much information as I can, house valuation, value of endowment policies etc The lady I spoke with did seem very helpful but I didn't realise how involved it all is. Try and have as much information to hand as you can for the phone call.

We contacted quite a few companies and went through the initial telephone process. We almost gave up because some of them were very insistent on signing us up, but it didn't feel comfortable. We had a gap of a couple of months when we told all companies that contacted us that we had decided not to bother at the moment.
Just before Xmas it become quite apparent that we couldn't continue trying to meet these debts and rang a company that were ever so helpful. Everything happened so quickly and the speed they turned things around was impressive.
Our creditors meeting is 19th Feb and our debts are £43,000 and we are offering 44p in £ so fingers crossed.

We rang Spencer Hays who were very efficient and within a day had a response from an IP from Simple Debt Solutions. As I say we rang Spencer Hays on 20th Dec and our creditors meeting is 19th Feb. However we were very prepared having gone through it with a few companies and had all our expenditure, creditor details and account numbers with balances outstanding all ready to go. It does pay to prepare a little in readiness.

That is excellent advice. As an insolvency practitioner on the other side of the fence, it is so helpful if clients have all of their paperwork together, and really speeds up the process. The main documents required are:-
1 Most recent creditor statements of account
2 Wage slips or trading accounts
3 Property valuation
4 Mortgage redemption statement
5 Property rental agreement
6 HP agreements
7 Photographic proof of identification
If you can have that gathered up beforehand, you are halfway to having an IVA proposal.
