i have decided to file for bankruptcy next week and am resided to the fact that i will lose my flat, this will ensure that i am made homeless as i will be unable to rent privately...any suggestions?

Hi chriseric 72 and welcome to the forum
There are private landlords that will allow you to rent their properties if you are bankrupt - shop around. And also put your name down on the Council list.

Yes I agree with Melanie. Private landlords just ask for character references.
If no landlord would consider anyone with a bad credit rating there would be a lot of homeless people around. On the other hand landlords need to protect themselves or they wouldn't be in business.
Being prepared to pay a large deposit and/ or rental up front will show a landlord good intent.

There are many poeple in the same situation as you and I can assure you that there are many landlords who are willing to take on a tenant whom has been made bankrupt.
