Hi all, first posting on the site although have been reading postings for a few months. It was such a relief to find that i'm not the only one who finds themselves up to their neck in debt. After taking out loan after loan and paying credit cards with credit cards I finally came to my senses (when the money finally ran out!) and started looking at ways to put an end to all the stress and worry. I came across this site and have found it tremendously useful (Although there are quite a few scary stories on here!! Has anyone completed an IVA because it would be nice if people could post a few positives!)I contacted a debt advisor and went through my finances. Scary as heck!!!! I was actually about £10k more in debt than I thought!!!! We came up with a proposal to put forward to my creditors and hopefully once I get all the paperwork together it should take about 10 weeks. So to anyone who's in debt and finding it difficult my advice would be, no matter how hard and scary it is, PLEASE DON'T SUFFER ALONE, contact a debt advisor as soon as possible. My advisor was lovely, she didn't criticise or judge me. Hopefully my IVA will be accepted, so I will be able to post my experiences on here that may be of use to others thinking about going down the same road. To all those that have posted, many thanks, your advice and experiences have greatly helped me.

Dont't put off till tomorrow what you can do today!

Hi Brassic and welcome.

I am so pleased the forum has been a help to you. I too found that when you actually add everything up it comes to so much more than you thought, in our case it was aboout £20,000 more, a bit of a shock[:0]. There are some posts of people who have completed and quite happily. We are in an iva and all is going well ,just reached the six month point, and we are very happy so far. Nice to not dread the postman and to know that what we spend is ours, not somebody elses we have to pay back.
As you say too many suffer alone and there is no need.
All the very best to you for your forthcoming proposal and iva, I hope all goes well. Please keep us informed of how you are getting on.

Thanks Aguise, nice to hear that you're coping well with your IVA, hopefully I will be able to say the same in a few months. I'm looking forward to being able to answer my phone again, and for my heart not to drop when I hear the letterbox rattle!!!!

Fingers crossed......
