Hello
I consider this to be a complex mess of a situation (you however might not?)
We emigrated from the UK to New Zealand a little over one year ago. At the time of our leaving we had debts (all unsecured credit cards/loans - 5 in total) which for whatever reason we decided not to inform our Creditors that we were leaving. We put money aside in our UK account to pay these debts for a period of 1 year whilst we got established. That year has now come and gone so too I would imagine has the money to pay things off in our UK account (not checked, too scared to do so).
We are also looking at debts UK to NZ conversion that have nearly tripled.
Please don't judge us on our motives to leave the UK. What I will say is that we didn't do it to run from our obligations.
As the year has progressed that notion of payback slipped away and the Ostrich Effect well and truly kicked in.
We can't pay off our debts and I'm stuck.
We have always been able to settle our obligations but this is soemthing else now and it isn't going away.
I received an email from my folks in the UK (just the other day) telling me that someone claiming to be from the Postal Office had mail for me and needed my address.
I reckon this is the start of the big track down.
That's most of the sorry tale I guess.
Does anyone have anything in the way of guidance that I can look at and make decisions on.
I appreciate that I am miles away but my obligations are very much UK based.
Thanks in advance for any support.
