I owe approxiamtely £70K and have 9 creditors.

Please could you advise me?

1. Is it possible for me to also do an IVA with my British creditors (I am a British Citizen) eventhough I am now resident in Belgium for the last couple of years?

2. Also, I am now working and have just successfully completed my probation period so feel a lot more comfortable entering into an agreement to repay debt given I now have a steady income. However, I live with my new partner and pay rent to her plus share in all other living expenses of the home (I have no assets). However, all the bills are and always have been in her name e.g. gas electricity, home insurances, car insurance etc etc but of course I contribute my share to these bills each month. Is this an issue in terms of proving my reasonable outgoing expenses each month?

3. If an IVA is not possible for me, given I no longer am resident in the UK what are my other options?

Thank you for your advice.

Kind regards
CA

Hey CA, welcome to the forum. I'm pretty sure you can do an IVA but please wait for a technical expert to clarify that. Don't worry about your bills, you will be able to put them on your outgoings. You should be paying your fair share, that is, if you earn more than your partner you should contribute more and vice versa. Hang in there and an expert will help you. X

You can do an IVA in the UK if you have lived in this country at any time during the last three years or are able to prove that you have a Centre of Main Interests in this country - for instance if all of your debts are based over here.

I have acted for a number of ex-pats in similar circumstances such as your own.
