Hi all,

I am going to ring our IP next week re this but just thought some of you wonderful peeps might know the answer...

Basically hubby's wage has now dropped by about £120 per month since we did our I&E ... however I have started to take in ironing and can replace this shortfall with that money.

So my question is, would my ironing money be exempt from the 10% 50/50 rule if it was just covering the new shortfall in OH wage?

And also, does the 10% 50/50 rule for extra earnings apply to 10% over the entire household incoming or is based on the individual concerned...

e.g. we have about 2000 incoming per month (650 is mine - rest is hubby) so could I earn £200 in ironing (10% of 2k) before I would have to pay extra or would it be £65 (10% of 650) based on my wage alone?

Like I said gonna call IP on this to be sure but would love to hear from anyone who knows?

Cheers guys!
xx [:)]

Quasimodo is walking through town carrying a wok.
"hello quasi, off to do some chinese cookery?"
said a passer-by.
"No, just going to iron my shirt" says quasi.

I know people think I am crackers for doing ironing but every penny helps!

Yeah the 10% 50/50 is very confusing - but defo don't wanna get caught owing back arrears so wanna be careful to put any money away that I need to. Hoping an expert will clear the fog around this soon [:)]

My husband is the best ironer ever - 22 years in the army and he can spot a tramline a mile off! I dared to iron his shirts once and was told never again - and I did not protest too much!!

Your ironing money can firstly be used to supplement your husband's lost earnings - and good on you for doing it - so no 50% being grabbed by creditors.

Strangely I refuse to iron for OH - he is big enough to do his own and I told him that before we got married ha ha!!!

Mind you I do deliberatly avoid buying clothes that need lots of ironing myself - I don't want to iron if I'm not being paid ha ha!!! [:D]
