Well here we were, looking forward to a nice Sunday. My mom and dad coming across and treating us to lunch out - haven't eaten out for months!

Just before we were due to go, hubby decides younger dog needs one of his chews to keep him happy whilst we are out (older dog daren't have one, they'd pull her teeth out!)

They are big chews, the ones with the knots on the ends and he is only a small dog, so hubby always saws into one of the knots so it is easier for him to get at (dog that is, not hubby!). This time, he not only sliced the chew - he managed to get his finger as well!

So instead of heading out to eat (fortunately we hadn't booked anywhere), I ended up taking him to the local minor injuries unit as it was a deep cut. We spent an hour there whilst they sorted him out. He had some of those strips on his cut, I forget what they are called, and it is now bandaged. Apparantly there is also the chance that the tendon could suddenly snap in the next few days (nice!). He's grinning and bearing it though.

One good thing to come out of it was that we were telling the nurse where we were supposed to be going for lunch, and she said she'd been last week and it was awful!

Change of plan, and we went to the local carvery, which we know is good. Didn't get lunch till after 3, but it was worth the wait!

Oh Jan, hope he's finger heals ok. Maybe it was fate that you weren't supposed to go to that particular restaurant, it's just unfortunate he had to saw through his finger to find out!!! I'm pleased you enjoyed your meals in the end, tell hubby I hope his finger gets better soon,

He says thanks Chris. He also said, 'it will either get better or fall off'! Cheerful soul isn't he?

Kallis, sorry to hear about hub's finger. Tell him if it's his nose picking one to keep it well covered otherwise he could be in for a nasty infection [:D] [:D] [;)]. Hope he's better soon. Kazzy x

He says it is well covered, but he's having to stretch his nostril wider to get the dressing up![:0][:D][:D]

Careful he doesn't split his nostril otherwise you could have another catastrophe on your hands. That one might be a bit more difficult to explain at the hospital [:D] [}:)] Kazzy x

Not a nice thought Kazzy! Don't fancy sitting round the hospital with him for that!

He is a disaster area though - he cut his other index finger last year cutting a tile! Funnily enough, my parents were round that day as well! They must be a bad influence.

Oh no! What's he like?![:0] Ah, poor thing, my hubby was always sawing through his fingers when we cheffed in the restaurant and always ended up in A&E when we were at our busiest! He never got any sympathy. Tell your hubby I hope his tendon doesn't snap (yuk). Sorry about your lunch, it obviously stopped you going somewhere rubbish though and getting a yummy carvery instead. X

Perhaps he secretly thinks your parents are scary and gets really nervous at the thought of their visits?? [:D] [:I] Only joking, I'm sure they are lovely just like you really [;)] Kazzy x

You could be right Kazzy!

I do love them to bits but they do my head in sometimes!

Viki, it was a Toby Carvery. I had a salad (trust me to be different!), but the carvery did look good. What amazed me was the amount of food some people piled on their plates - and they ate most of it! No wonder England has an obesity problem. I think they are of the mindset - I've paid for the meat and all you can eat spuds and veg, so I'll get my moneys worth!

I was good as well - didn't have a pud![:)]
