Hi all,
I am 6 months into my IVA with Blair Endersby and am facing a dilema.
My car finance with Black Horse is a GAP finance package which means in 12 months I can hand my fuel guzzling car back to the finance company and face no penalty payments etc.
But my question is: can i get another car on finance with an iva?
I have spoken to Blair Endersby and they haven't given me any advice really.
Is there any car finance companies that will give me finance without a silly APR and use a dealer that is reputable?
Just seems like a good opportunity to get rid of this fuel guzzling car with something a bit more economical and still new enough not to need lots of maintenance.
Any advice will be most appreciated.
Paul

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum. If you have a look at my posting below 'Car Refinancing' you may be able to get some information. My car company are Mazda and they have been very good. Hope you find a solution. Kazzy x

Thank you to Kazzy and Ray for your replies.
Got a mazda myself (RX8) so hoping to be able to get something less thirsty but still something reliable and relatively new (2 to 3 years old ideally) to keep servicing and maintenance costs down.
Would like from anyone else who can also offer good advice like Kazzy and Ray.

How was this dealt with as part of the IVA? What did your IP think you were going to need to do when the agreement had expired, as presumably a vehicle is pretty essential for transport to and from work. Surely this was discussed with you at some stage?

Hi Melanie,
The car package is obviously a part of my working essentials but with the increase in petrol prices and the "green" taxes the car is getting expensive per month (hence the thought of replacing when the GAP finance hits the half way point.
The plan is in my IVA that the 6 months worth of payments will be added to my creditors payments.
If I can save some money on the car I currently have I thought my creditors may be happier with the fact I'm trying to reduce my expenditure to help me maintain my payments in these difficult times.

Only issue i can see is that they demand 4 months payments as a deposit - that will be difficult for me to do in an IVA

I too lease my car I took the lease out before my IVA (I sold a car to try and pay off some debts) I pay £99 a month and have managed to increase the length of the lease until August next year. At my last review I asked if I could get finance or take out a further lease. The reply I got was I could take out a further lease providing the cost was no more than £99 a month!! I am getting really worried about next year as I have to have a car to be able to work. I would be able to afford to pay a little more each month but most of the sites I have looked the cost is a lot higher.
I am going to write to my IP again and try to find a solution to this problem.
So if any one knows of a company that will lease very cheap cars to people in IVA's....

Oooh Paul, luuuurrrrvvv the RX8 especially the Prodrive, but certainly a nice toy and not one to have in an IVA. We have the 3 2ltr Sport and are downgrading to the 3 Tamura which is only a 1.6 which will be cheaper all round. Do you have your finance on Mazda's PCP scheme with the balloon payment at the end of Yr 3? If so, could you not do what I've done, obviously with the approval of your IP? Kazzy x

Hi PC,
Welcome to the forum. I've answered this question a lot of times as i went through exactly this problem!! I'm also ith B & E and had to give my car back as it was too expensive - it was awful I got refused by so many companies I was panicing!!
I found help witj Leaseline.co.uk - a gut called Gary Beedle, who was super - non judgemental and really sympathetic. Gary's number is: 07879 414307.
I hope you get a new car sorted soon - I did and now have a brand bew Peugot 207cc which is disel and cheaper on fuel - brill!!
Good luck,
Hugs,
Chardonnay
