Hi all

Watching the news these last few days I have been left wondering if the following option which lasts for 5 years is better than the 6 years we are in an IVA for.

The alternative is: you take out a canoe..........

............5 years later you turn up in a police station and wonder who you are or where you have been for the last 5 years.

In an IVA your creditors agree to freeze interest and stop any action against you.

In a canoe your wife claims life assurance and moves to Panama.

In an IVA you need to keep your IP informed of any change of circumstances.

In a canoe make sure you dont get photographed with your "widow" prior to informing the police you dont remember the last 5 years.

In an IVA your details are on file for a total of 6 years.

In a canoe who knows when this saga will end.

I think the IVA is the clear winner but I will add that who knows what depths of despair led to this man taking his chosen path. It could be he was an out and out fraudster, or he could have been at his wits end, with no sane plan for solving his debts - if indeed he had any.

Regards

Dave

OT

Is the "Perfumed Ayatollah not back yet then?" Whenever I see a group of women dancing round their handbags I feel like throwing my (empty) wallet in there and saying "I'll see you and raise you.."

Hmmmm, I'm glad I'm already BR - Dave might have bought me a canoe...

Having read the Daily Mail today it looks like fraud, wasting police time and perverting the course of justice to me. I don't have a lot of sympathy for them when you read the stories of people on this forum of people who have faced their debts and in some cases lost their homes when they could have run away.

Is he still responsible for those debts? If he is, then it was all for nothing and now he will have a criminal record to boot!!!!!!!!

I applied for a canoe ...
but they said that I didnt have enough to keep afloat and that a paddle was extra, weel knowing that meant that I was going to have to look for a creek 'cos its well known that you can be up a creek without a paddle ...

instead they gave me a BR, with a BR you can go far but you might not get to keep your car.

I really need to get out more [8D]

I wonder if the OR will want possession of the canoe. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned up on ebay any time soon.
